Scientific Accounting Association at a Glance

The world today faces accelerating challenges—from the aftermath of the pandemic to digital transformation and climate change. While these developments place pressure on global economies, they also open vast opportunities for innovation and international collaboration. Scientific and professional associations play a vital role in building a sustainable future.

Locally, Qatar continues to advance its National Vision 2030 through strategic investments in infrastructure and the promotion of a knowledge-based economy. This momentum calls for greater alignment between academic efforts and real-world practice.

In this context, the Scientific Accounting Association (SAA) was established at Qatar University in 2004 as the first specialized accounting association in the country. Its mission is to foster engagement between researchers and practitioners. Today, SAA includes over 600 members—academics, professionals, and students—and is committed to advancing the profession through events, conferences, and training programs.

Over the past two decades, the association has made a notable impact on the development of the accounting profession in Qatar, with the continued support of Qatar University—particularly from Dr. Khaled Al-Khater, one of the association's founding members and former Vice President of the University.

Today, the SAA Board of Directors remains dedicated to the association's mission: preparing a new generation of accountants who are equipped to respond to evolving challenges and contribute meaningfully to Qatar's development.
